Obligatory OTP Asks pt 1

1. Who would end a heated argument by defending their actions with ‘because I love you!’ ?

In the letter of the question, neither of them. It's sort of a thing that they never say it. It's like a... why try to label or make this be anything? Just accept it for what it is.

In the spirit of the question, more likely Theo, because he tends to bottle things up and then pop. It could be either of them in the right circumstances, though, because Draco's very good at dramatic pronouncements.

2. What would they do if the other woke in a manic state after a nightmare?

They typically don't sleep together, specifically because of Draco's nightmares. He gets ashamed of them and doesn't want to be seen, and he needs a second to process the line between dreams and reality. When he freaks out especially much, Theo's there to calm him down and see if he needs a sedative.

If Theo freaks out from a bad dream, Draco's there for reassurance and cuddles.

3. Do they wear the other’s clothes? (sweatshirt, bandana, necklace, etc.)

Not normally. Draco's complete image is far too curated to be adding random trinkets to it. And he's too paranoid about staying in the token closet to hand out favours.

4. Which one is more protective? Who needs to be ‘protected’?

Draco is both physically and mentally more fragile. He's also more magically skilled, but he doesn't trust himself and is less likely to handle himself well in a stressful situation, depending on what the situation is.

Theo is hella protective. I have a mental image of him actually getting between Draco and Lucius when Draco's having a bad mental health day -- which is both somewhat physically but extremely socially dangerous, since he sort of depends on the parents' tolerance of him to stay at the Manor with Draco.

5. Describe their cozy night in.

A bottle of wine, a stack of reference books, and an idea for a new magical item they are trying to create. They have a lot of fun working together like that. There's about a 50% chance it devolves into some sort of debate or deep dive into some subject like doing astrological natal charts, and they accomplish nothing, but their debates have a good chance of inspiring Draco to write a paper, so that's still time spent productively.

Yes, there is a greater chance their cozy night in devolves into drunken academia than into sexy times.

Draco's the lightning. Flashy, impressive, brilliant, chaotic. Glorious to watch unless you're its target. Although, even getting struck by it is breathtaking. Usually harmless, but when it isn't...

Theo's the thunder. In the background, subtle, but always there. Theo will literally unravel the fabric of time itself to get what he wants - he's not flashy, but he is far more frightening.

Instead of the sun/moon trope, how about the lightning/thunder trope

Theo gets constantly distracted by how gorgeous Draco is in all sorts of ways. But the one trait that really sticks out are his hands. Long, elegant fingers "made for holding a wand", the delicate way it always looks like he's holding things, the way he fiddles with his family ring, the way every pose looks precise and intentional...

Draco finds Theo's clumsiness endearing. He's gangly and stoopy (after he gets to his full height) and doesn't usually seem to know what to do with all those limbs. It's just a trait that's really "Theo".

Draco admires Theo's complete lack of give-a-shit. Theo just does not give a thought to what anybody else thinks, feels absolutely no trace of social or familial pressure, and is generally free. It can be exasperating, honestly, but still. (It's also a sort of rebellious affectation, as much as Theo claims otherwise, but he still projects it well.)

Theo's enamoured of Draco's potential in general, the way he can accomplish anything he sets his mind to. But his very favourite personality trait is Draco's occasional flashes of childishness. A love of pranks and teasing, an impish grin when he has a mischievous idea, the way he gets into arguments for fun, cheating at games when he doesn't need to...

in the modern au would they adopt?

There's been talk of this a couple of times before and I'm still on the fence about it myself. I think Vasco likes the idea of fatherhood and would have children if given the choice. Machete doesn't hate children but is strongly unnerved and doesn't know how to deal with them. So the odds of them agreeing to initiate the adoption process aren't promising, but if they, by some random chance, found themselves responsible for a child, it's entirely possible they would grow very attached to the kid and excel as parents.

Well, it's definitely the healthiest relationship in Draco's and possibly both of their lives. The bar for that is pretty low, though....

Ultimately, they are good together, which is kind of impressive given all the power imbalance dynamics in play (employer-employee // caretaker-dependant // wealthy-broke // stalker-obsession). I guess the "childhood friends" trope trumps all that.

12. & 13. Whether they are healthy or toxic together, do they have potential to be the other?

Note the "stalker-obsession" dynamic. Theo is completely obsessed with Draco due to magical shenanigans which could be considered Draco's fault. It's a mess which can lead to toxicity on all sides -- not just Theo being stalkery and controlling, but resentment in both directions, and the opportunity for exploitation.

I don't get the impression there's lots of options? Since neither of them is going to be listening to Muggle music and there's just the one Wizarding radio station that plays the entire 2 Wizarding musical acts we know of, which seem to be a hardcore punk band and a crooner.

But Theo is way more into the Weird Sisters than Draco is. Draco's probably more a "listen to my parents' music" type.

B is an absolute sucker for head scratches and A knows this, so they take every chance they can to give that to B

A brings a slice of cake from a family event over to B’s place out of love kindness, and apparently it is B’s favorite flavor (A stows this knowledge away and brings B that cake whenever possible)

“You know, my parents commented that I seem a lot more relaxed and happy around you.” “Seems like I just have that effect on people.”

A is very careful about what’s allowed to be said in bed, but B slips up once and it hits A like a TRUCK oh my gods they want to hear that again and again and again

Character C, one of B’s best friends, hangs out with A and B twice and comments that they are cute together
